Farr 40s in OZ
Thursday March 20th 2003, Author: Sam Crichton, Location: Australasia
After a action packed race 3 that saw the Farr 40 fleet sail in 20-25 knot northeast breeze with gusts of 35 knots, race 4 was a walk in the park by comparison. The northwest breeze of 4-8 knots had the fleet using Clark Island to try and gain some advantage in the flukey conditions. Four of the fleet were over the line and an error in judgement saw
Corinthian Doors continue down the course with an OCS being recorded.
As the fleet rounded the bottom mark for the last time the sea breeze came in from the northeast at 19 knots which gave the fleet a quick trip to the finish line. The one design fleet finished in quick succession to end a well-raced series that will finish up the class season.
The final point score saw a 3 way tie for first place with Dick Voorderhake on Syntegra Rapscallion taking first place on a count back, Rob Skinner on Weapon in second and Marcus Blackmore on Emotional Hooligan in third. Mr Kevin Wall CEO of Alfa Romeo Australia presented the winners with their trophies and the daily race winner the prizes as well.
Overall places after 4 races:
1 Syntegra Rapscallion (Dick Voorderhake - CYCA) 8
2 Weapon (Rob Skinner - CYCA) 8
