Frostbite opener

The first race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Frostbite series was held on Sunday 11 January and saw 26 boats venture out in sunshine and a westerly breeze which increased from around 15 knots to gusting over 35 knots.
The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat near After Barn buoy.
Class 1 saw Mike Moxley’s HOD 35 Malice take line honours but victory on corrected time by over 4 minutes went to Ed Holton’s J/110 Shades of Blue. Third was Pete Sander’s Dehler 41 Kraken.
Class 2 saw Steve Sault’s Sigma 33 Hooligan take line honours. First on corrected time was Barrie Martin’s classic 35ft Nicholson One-Off by nearly four minutes from Ian Barry and Robert Clark’s Evolution 22 Glass Onion with Hooligan third.
In the Multihull Class, James Holder’s F24 Legless capsized. Simon Forbes’ Dragonfly 800 Scooby III was first to finish. Ben Goodland’s Strider 24 Tigger won on corrected time from Scooby III with Dragonfly 800 Blue Minnell (Tim Wilson) third.
