This year's Bell Lawrie Scottish Series, Scotland's premier yacht racing event, has received a massive boost with confirmation of major sponsors to guarantee an even bigger and better event.
Title sponsors, Bell Lawrie White, have been joined by a host of leading companies to pledge support for the biggest annual yachting regatta in Britain after Cowes Week.
The regatta, which is organised by the Clyde Cruising Club and begins on 27th May, now boasts an impressive list of supporters, including Talisker, Volvo, Tunnocks, Graham Technology, Brookes & Gatehouse, Ocean World, Scottish Brewers, Shanks Waste Management, Argyll and Bute Council and Argyll and the Islands Enterprise.
John Hardie, Chairman of Tarbert Enterprise Company, has welcomed the additional event support. He said, "Over the years, the Scottish Series has attracted leading brands as sponsors and this year is no different. The diversity and calibre of this year's sponsors demonstrate the strength and significance of the event in the yachting calendar and in Scotland as a whole."
As title sponsor, investment managers Bell Lawrie White are delighted to be joined by such strong brands. Commenting on the news, Fraser Gardiner, Director of Bell Lawrie White, said, "The Scottish Series has proved itself a valuable platform for us over the years and this announcement reflects its importance amongst other businesses. It's a great event to be connected with and we are thoroughly looking forward to working with the other sponsors this year to make it an event to remember."
The five-day race series takes place on Loch Fyne, Tarbert and is open to a wide range of classes including IRC, CYCA, Sonata, Sigma 33, Cork 1720, Sports Boat, Laser and Restricted Sail. Last year's overall winner, the Cork 1720, King Quick - sailed by Ruairidh & Graeme Scott - is set to defend its title against competing yachts from the UK and beyond.
The Scottish Series attracts around 200 visiting yachts to the picturesque West Coast village of Tarbert, plus over 1200 crew who truly bring the normally quiet village to life over the racing weekend. The event continues to attract many eager spectators, providing a welcome boost to the Argyllshire coast.
