Musto's high-tech sunshine range

At the recent METS exhibition Musto formally released the latest addition to their foul weather range – the LPX. More specifically this is more a specialist fair weather range with an emphasis on super light weight, simplicity and comfort in warmer climes. Think TP52s in Palma, Melges 32 in Miami and Wally’s in St Tropez.
The three garment range – jacket, shorts and hip trousers, are all constructed from Gore-Tex’s waterproof and breathable 165gsm Paclite Shell resulting in a large size jacket weighing just 500g (in comparison a MPX Offshore Jacket at 1.25 Kg). Each garment is unlined with fully taped seams and extra wear resistance is dealt with by Kevlar rich Keprotec fabric. You can have any colour, as long as it’s Platinum (very light grey) or Dark Grey, and we suspect the lighter colour will be extremely popular the further south you do you racing.
The quality of the gear is extremely high and it will be a welcome addition to have the Musto brand with a strong product for the sunshine regattas. Unfortunately no chest-highs are planned, but then if you are getting wet with warm water in August you will be wearing the shorts.
Price wise the jacket is £225, the trousers £175 and the shorts come in at a hefty £115 - but then you are paying for all that high-tech lightness, less is more as they say.
