With three Farr 40 World Championship wins in three consecutive years, so Vincenzo Onorato and his Mascalzone Latino team are looking to defend their title for a third time in 2009.
In the last year, Mascalzone Latino won for the first time in Newport in 2006, then in 2007, when Vincenzo Onorato and his crew beat Ernesto Bertarelli and his Alinghi team; then last year came out on top after a neck-and-neck final against their compatriots aboard Joe Fly.
The season will open with the usual Acura Key West Race Week on 19-23 January, followed by the Acura Miami Grand Prix on the second weekend of March.
On 24-25 April Mascalzone Latino will be in Porto Rotondo for the Farr 40 European Circuit, then they will take part in the Rolex Capri Sailing Week, over 21-23 May.
This year the World Championship will be held off Porto Cervo from 24-27 June with a Pre Worlds regatta before that.
The crew of Mascalzone Latino for the 2009 season won't change: Vincenzo Onorato will be at the helm helped by Adrian Stead as tactician, Matteo Savelli and Andrea Ballico (trimmer), Davide Scarpa (bowman), Gerry Mitchell (mainsail), Marco Cornacchia (pitman), Adriano Figone (mast), Tim Burnell (navigator) and Roberta de Paoli Ambrosi..
