Hey you, multihuller
Friday February 13th 2009, Author: Dick Johnson, Location: United Kingdom
Calling you multihullers…there hasn’t been anything arranged for East Coast Multihulls, racing or cruising, for many years. Musto’s Dick Johnson is spearheading a revival by organising three races as a part of Burnham Week 2009’s Bank Holiday programme, with a view to making it an annual event.
Racing will be from Committee boat starts, with a dash out of the Crouch to the open waters off the Whittaker sands where there will be triangle courses before racing home to finish back in the river at the Committee boat. Courses of about 20 to 25 miles are planned.
Moorings with a tender service are being arranged with Rice and Coles Yard at sensible East Coast rates, and there will be a supper in the Crouch Yacht Club on the Saturday evening.
All multihulls, MOCRA members or not are welcome and so far there is interest from three South Coast boats, four from the Medway, five or six from the Southend area of the Thames and one resident Burnham boat. Hopefully others from the surrounding area will also express an interest - they range from old Iroquois Catamarans to Dragonfly 920s and even a 40ft Shuttleworth tri.
Non racers are also very welcome for a little quiet river cruising and some lively social evenings.
Dick would be grateful if interested parties could contact him on either 07721 016741 or via djohnson@musto.co.uk
