The new Simon Rogers-designed 82 footer is coming on well at Goetz Custom Technologies. The hull of this new cruiser/racer for owner Brian Benjamin has recently been turned.
Rogers writes: "The Rogers 82 cruiser/racer is now at the half way mark in the build process, with the lines of this design beginning to unfold, giving a true sense of what this thoroughbred yacht is all about. The hull is now fully structured and the deck has been dry fitted, enabling systems and interior fit-out to begin. East Coast Interiors are currently building a stunning Superyacht interior and coupled with superb build quality of Goetz and Rogers Yacht Design’s detailed design/IRC experience, it will make the Rogers 82 an impressive high performance cruiser/racer……..at only 30 tonnes.
"This design is the culmination of 18 months worth of intense design which has encompassed a significant tank testing programme, CFD analysis (Egan Consultants) and in depth structural design in association with SP/ Gurit. Due to the nature of this work, we are very confident in the anticipated performance of this yacht and eagerly await the launch of the new Aegir."
Owner Brian Benjamin comments: "Now things are hotting up and I can begin to see what all the fuss is about; she is already looking stunning, but maybe I am biased! Simon and his team at RYD have done a great job on the design and the build quality to date has been exceptional. All I want now is the project to fast forward because I am itching to go yachting."
Builder, Eric Goetz reports: "The Rogers 82 represents a great step in the world of fast, fun, comfortable and luxurious vessels. Using race boat technology to achieve the light weights and extreme strength and thus safety, and coupling this with modern design the team of Owner, Designer, Engineers and Builder are creating a new idiom which will open the door to higher performance with ease of handling and elegant luxury.
"The step which we took last week in rolling the hull and fitting the deck marks the end of the construction of the major pieces and marks the beginning of the fitting together of all the systems, furniture and outfit."
Aegir is scheduled for launch in Spring 2010.
