Goetz Custom Technologies LLC has unveiled plans to build the first of its new semi-custom sailboats designed by the world-renowned firm of German Frers Naval Architects.
The new G58 will be very fast due to its lightweight but extremely strong hull. The same prepreg carbon fiber materials and proprietary boat building methodologies that are used to build ocean-racing boats like Il Mostro of the Puma Ocean Racing Team will be used to build the G58. Speeds well over 15 knots are easily achievable on reaches and speeds on any point of sail will be 20% or more faster than comparable boats made of other materials.
The new design will also provide the owners and guests with a spacious and beautifully finished living area below decks including the owner’s suite, two guest cabins, main saloon with entertainment center and navigation station.
According to Eric Goetz, Founder of Goetz Technologies LLC: “One of the other terrific features of the G58 is that all the sail handling gear is aft of the wheel. So everyone in the cockpit has a panoramic, unimpeded view forward in addition to being able to enjoy the added comfort that this arrangement provides.”
The G 58 has a main, roller furling jib and an asymmetrical spinnaker. Because of the boat’s lightweight build, a four-cylinder Volvo Penta D2-75 engine provides ample powe The G58 will be available for delivery by spring of 2010.
Goetz Custom Technologies is known worldwide for its aerospace caliber technology and precise quality. The yachts, whether sail or power, utilize the same carbon fiber construction for minimum weight and maximum strength and speed.
