Kos shows her wares at the Royal Southern YC

Friday June 5th 2009, Author: James Boyd, Location: United Kingdom
World famous marine photographer, Kos Evans, is to exhibit her unique exhibition, Kos – Against the Elements, at the Royal Southern Yacht Club, Hamble until the end of today (Friday!).

This unique exhibition, which has displayed at the Getty Images Gallery in London and at the Yacht Club de Monaco, features some of Kos’ most dramatic and breathtaking photographs, spanning more than 27 years as an award-winning marine sports photographer.

An acknowledged pioneer in her field, Kos is renowned for her extraordinary trademark masthead shots, taken some 200ft from the deck and often involving her dangling upside down from the masthead. She has also been known to hang out of the side of a helicopter capturing racing powerboats, 20 feet off the water at 100 mph!

Kos’ assignments have included all the top yachting events, including several Americas’ Cup events and even filming the high-speed boat chase along the Thames for the opening sequence of the James Bond movie The World is Not Enough.

Kos’ aim is always to capture the best, most challenging and most elusive photo, working against the elements to reflect her love and awe of the ocean in all its unfathomable majesty. “The sea is a moving canvas that changes by the millisecond and I have strived to show its every aspect”, she says.
