Alinghi release graphic of their new multihull

Sunday June 14th 2009, Author: James Boyd, Location: United Kingdom
Alinghi's new big multihull for the 33rd America's Cup is set to be launched in mid-July we understand, although of course no further details about their new weapon are available at present. In the meantime Alinghi have released a graphic representation showing how their new beast will compare size-wise with their D35 catamarans and a V5 Cup boat. The side profile doesn't reveal too much about the design, but the positioning of the beam attachments to the floats indicates as many have suspected - that it is indeed a catamaran. Judging from the scale the cat is also 90ft and not a 115ft twin master. Of course this may all be a red herring and we'll find out that the Swiss team will be defending in a 90ft long foiling Moth.
