The Grand Soleil 42R Meliti IV, belonging to well-known Greek owner George Andreadis, won the world championships in Brindisi in the ORC Class A. Sailing with a mainly New Zealand crew, Meliti IV beat its “twin” Man, owned by the Italians Di Bartolomeo, Di Carlo and Beneventani, thus marking the domination of the Grand Soleil boats with a fantastic double victory.

Fourth place was won by Vasco Vascotto, who has been world champion several times, with the boat GS 56R Athanor-Ola-Città di Siracusa, owned by Russo, Brenco and De Falco, which was penalised by the offshore regatta course.

In the ORC Class B, Fausto Pierobon made his mark once more sailing the GS 37 Sagola, winning in Corinthian Division (last year he won the World Championships in Athens). Cantiere del Pardo also had another victory in this group, with 3rd place going to the GS 40 Alvarosky, owned by Francesco Siculiana, which was always constant and fast.
