Dud start

No breeze for the first day of the Swan American Regatta

Tuesday July 17th 2007, Author: Sarah Johnson, Location: United Kingdom
The first day of racing on Monday at the 2007 Swan American Regatta, Newport RI, was cancelled due to the lack of wind. The New York Yacht Club Race Committee finally called time at 15:00 after the 34-strong fleet had waited for four hours on the Atlantic Ocean. Officials moved the rendez-vous area once in the hope that a sea breeze might fill in, but to no avail.

The owners and crew are now made their way to shore for evening refreshments at the New York Yacht Club's Harbour Court where they had the opportunity to reflect on the first day, and talk tactics for day two.

The first signal warning for Tuesday's racing will be at 11:00.
