WISC tops scoreboard

An update from the Swan 45 Northern European Circuit following the Vice Admiral's Cup

The Vice Admirals Cup, the 3rd event on the Northern European Circuit for the Swan 45 Class, took place in Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK last weekend (2- 4 June) with Glyn Williams’ WISC ( Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing) currently leading the scoreboard. The 4th and final event for the Class will be Skandia Cowes Week.

With their World Companionship taking place from the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes in July, the Vice Admirals Cup is a very valuable warm-up for the Swan 45 fleet. Competition was naturally extremely fierce, with the boats racing under the full Swan 45 One Design Rules. Racing over the two days took place under glorious sunshine, with winds varying from stable to shifty (0 – 17 knots).

WISC ( Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing) came in second at the event and is currently leading the series, with Feve r (Grant Gordon / Klaus Diederichs) and McFly (Tony Mack) following closely behind in second and third places respectively.

Glynn Williams, Owner and Helmsman of WISC, commented: "The Northern European Circuit is proving to be a very close run series, with the racing at Cowes this weekend some of the tightest we have seen yet. Given the crew’s performance, I am confident that we will perform well at the Swan 45 Gold Cup in Cowes in early July."

Grant Gordon, Swan 45 Class Treasurer and owner of Fever, added: “This year has seen the Swan 45 Class competing in an immensely successful, challenging and close run series of races. We are now looking forward to the culmination of racing with the Swan 45 Gold Cup from the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, where the Mediterranean, Northern European and Eastern American circuits meet from 4-8 July.
