The Solent Cruising & Racing Association has announced the support of some leading marine industry players for its new IRC Solent Series.

To help promote good racing and achieve high turnouts, the Series is being sponsored by Ancasta, Hamble Yacht Services, J-Boats UK and North Sails.

Last November, the Solent Cruising & Racing Association (SCRA), in co-operation with seven of its member clubs, announced that it was organising a series of seven days of racing for IRC boats between May and September 2006. The IRC Solent Series is open to all boats with an IRC rating of between 0.840 and 1.350. The fleet will be split into 6 classes.

The first day's racing is on Saturday 20 May and is being run by the Royal Southampton Yacht Club as part of its Clarkson Cup weekend. See the SCRA website at http://www.scra.org.uk for contact details for this club and the other six clubs who are running the IRC Solent Series.

The SCRA’s Honorary Secretary, Stuart Quarrie, is keen to remind everyone that the time is counting down to the first event, so get your entry in now!

The 2006 IRC Solent Series Programme is confirmed as follows:

Sat 20 May Royal Southampton YC Clarkson Cup incorporating IRC SS1
Sat 17 June Royal Thames YC IRC SS2
Sun 18 June Royal Southern YC IRC SS3
