Ireland's Cork Week 2006, which will take place from July 15th to 21st this year, is, for the first time, accepting entries on line. A Grand Prix event, renowned for exciting and challenging racing, Cork Week attracts sailors from all over the world, for the biennial series of races, involving up to 600 yachts from 12 countries with upwards of 5000 competitors.

The online entry system is something competitors have requested. Ian Venner, Event Chairman for Cork Week 2006 said: "In response to sailor feedback, Cork Week, in association with Proteus Solutions, has developed an online entry system which permits sailors to enter their boats and subsequently manage their crew listing and eligibility up to a few weeks before the Regatta. It also allows for on-line enquiry by a number of fields, e.g. class, TCC, etc. so everyone can view our entries real-time.

This represents just one of the many areas in which Cork Week has responded to the needs of our competitors and we hope it will provide them with a more enjoyable experience of our regatta."

Roy Disney, one of the event’s International Patrons, describes Cork Week as “the best Regatta in the world, for everyone who has a boat that sails, big or small, slow or fast”.

In addition to top class racing, the fabled on-shore tented village lets all crews interact socially in a fun way which has become one of the main ingredients in the success for Cork Week.
