UK Halsey Hamble have announced that it has entered an agreement with
Shamrock V and has commenced build of a new set of sails for the ‘J’ Class Yacht. Over the last six months, UK Halsey Hamble worked closely with the Management Company and skipper of the
Shamrock V to define their specific requirements.
The company says that the Shamrock team chose UK Halsey's unique ‘Millenium’ range of products, providing carbon sails with double taffeta. This type of technology allows the ability to build 100% continuous yarn sails for yachts of this size – something previously not available.
George Mueller, skipper of Shamrock V commented: “We are very excited about the performance of the ‘Millenium’ product and the service and expertise that the UK Halsey team provides."
The Shamrock V project is added to a successful end to the racing season for UK Halsey which include the Farr 45 Exabyte 4 - newly crowned Farr 45 UK National Champion under the colours of ‘Wildfire Dart Marina’ and skippered by Richard Seton and Bete, Melges 24 World Champion, owned by Ezio Amadori and helmed by Nicola Celon.
In other company news UK Halsey Sails Hamble has opened a sales office in Hamble Yacht Services providing additional local service and support (the new office can be found at Unit 15A, which on the left as you enter the HYS Yard).
The new office will provide support to existing customers who are predominantly based in Hamble and ensure that Hamble’s local yachting community have easy access and advice on hand, where they need it. The Swanwick loft will remain as the head office and both will work on the operation and co-ordination of repairs and sales.
“HYS is a busy yard and having a base there gives us the opportunity to back up our existing sales and service in the local area, allowing easier access to the company for existing clients and potential new customers. Sails are ‘high end’ goods and the service we offer must be second to none”, comments Jamie Collins, head salesman at UK Halsey Sails Hamble, who will run the new office.
