James Boyd reports from the Copa del Rey

Cam meanwhile is one of the most unusual looking race boats we have seen in recent years (see photos on page 2). One time voted the 'most ugly boat of the year' by our colleagues at Sailing Anarchy, Cam is a Farr 54 design with a kind of IMS tumblehome the likes of which we haven't witnessed since early 1970s IOR. Rumours go round about how a couple of crew are kept down below in special seats on the weather side, when sailing upwind as this places their body weight further outboard than by merely sitting out up top. Beauty is unto the eye of the beholder but somehow Cam does look very cool, albeit in an odd retro sort of way and does manage to work on the race course, finishing second at Copa del Rey to movistar.
