Areva has decided to sponsor K-CHALLENGE in the 32nd America’s Cup which will be held in Valencia, Spain during the summer of 2007.
The boat and its team are now known as the Areva Challenge.
Already a partner of the French challenger in New Zealand in 2003, Areva is proud to rejoin the America's Cup competition. In doing so, the group will enrich the experience it gained during the previous competition and will benefit, once again, in terms of internal and external communications.
The sponsorship will increase awareness of the Areva brand in France and abroad and sees the group associated with a competition whose values are in line with its own: technological innovation, team spirit and the development of CO2 free energies.
For group employees, this is a unique opportunity to rally around an attractive and status-enhancing project.
Jacques-Emmanuel Saulnier, Senior Vice President, Communications and Areva spokesperson, said "The America’s Cup is one of the world’s major sporting events and presents an exceptional opportunity for a group such as ours. We are very happy to be involved in the world of sailing once again."
Stéphane Kandler, General Manager of K-Challenge, said "Areva is a major international champion in its field. Its contribution to the America's Cup and prior experience will enable us to embark on this sporting adventure together with a view to achieving one of the best performances in this legendary international competition."
