Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia Team set sail again in Valencia

Tuesday February 14th 2006, Author: Lara Ciribi, Location: Italy
After a brief sail and complete check-up of the boat and gear on Friday, Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia Team carried out their first training run of the season on Monday with ITA 77.

ITA 77 will serve as the trial boat against the new Mascalzone Latino boat which will sail at the beginning of spring.

Monday provided ideal sailing conditions in Valencia with 9-10 knots of wind from the southeast and calm seas.

Vasco Vascotto and Flavio Favini, sporting a straggly unkempt seaman style beard, sailed the boat for the first time along the newly inaugurated canal that connects the bases in the port to the sea.

On board ITA 77 with Vasco and Flavio were Albi Barovier, Pietro Mantovani, Chris Dougall, Giuly Romanengo, Andrea Mocchetto, Edoardo 'Dodo' Natucci, Joseph 'Joe' Fanelli, Lars Borgstrom, Dede De Luca, Cesare Bozzetti, Michele Paoletti, Pierluigi 'PG8' De Felice and Nacho Postigo.

Satisfied with the testing and good sailing conditions, Vasco and Flavio and the boys armed with two BLUSail 24 Sport match racing boats and disappeared toward the entrance of the canal to continue on with the day's training.

Actually the sailing crew and technical crew of Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia Team have been back hard at work since the middle of January.

Each week, the sailing team is alternating groups of five against five in Las Palmas, where they have been running a series of match racing camps led by specialists Jes Gram-Hansen and Rasmus Koestner as instructor and trainer.

The entire team will be back in operation in Valencia next week.
