There's still time to enter the Solent's premier early season keelboat event which gets
underway on Sunday 13 March. Those entering by 4 March will pay the standard entry fee. The entry form can be downloaded from www.warsashsc.org.uk or email here.
Racing takes place on 13, 20 March, 3, 10, 17 and 24 April with the first start around 10am. There are two central Solent start lines: Black Group: for IRC, Sigma 38, Sigma 33, X332 and Bowsprit and White Group (which normally uses the sailing area closer to the mainland shore and Southampton Water with two races each week) for Mumm 30, Hunter 707, 1720, Laser SB3, J80 and Sports Boat Rule. Black Group competitors count their best five results, White Group their best 10.
WSC say there's already a quality entry of over 150 boats and the race team is raring to go! "We aim to give brisk and challenging racing, with a target length of about two and a
half hours.
"After racing all competitors are welcome back at Shore House, Warsash Sailing
Club's Hamble-side clubhouse, where there's a friendly bar, hot food and a fast results
service on the big screen. There's free lager and beer for early arrivers courtesy of our
sponsor, Raymarine, and Mumm champagne for the weekly class winners. Our free
ferry serves the main Hamble marinas.
"In addition our Spring Championships (up to 12 races) run over the weekends of
16/17 and 23/24 April for Mumm 30, Hunter 707, 1720, Laser SB3, J/80 and
Sportsboat classes. For IRM, the Spring Championships is a single weekend, on
23-24 April.
