Free booze in the name of Skandia

Workers in the City of London can get a taste of the world’s oldest and largest sailing regatta, Skandia Cowes Week, thanks to a week-long celebration of the Event at Leadenhall Market in EC3 on 25-29 July.
Music, winch-grinding and rowing competitions plus a Laser SB3 performance dinghy are being laid on from 6.00pm-9.30pm every day to help create a flavour of the Skandia Cowes Week experience within the historic 17th Century wrought iron and glass-roofed building.
Olympic sailor Steve Mitchell, will open the event on Monday 25 July. At 6.00pm he will launch a winch-grinding challenge, with fund-raising for Skandia Cowes Week’s official charity, Sail 4 Cancer.
Young’s Brewery is giving away 2,005 free pints, plus incentives and offers are being run by the shops and restaurants of Leadenhall Market. There’s also the chance to win one of the following prizes:
• A day’s sailing for two on Sunday 31st July at Skandia Cowes Week on one of Skandia’s racing boats.
• Two passes to Champagne Mumm’s exclusive VIP Bar at Skandia Cowes Week (plus a Magnum on arrival).
• Two cases of Champagne Mumm’s Cordon Rouge.
• £500 worth of Henri-Lloyd sailing clothing.
• Two places on Touareg Unlimited – the luxury on and off road driving experience.

The winners of the day’s sailing will be announced on Friday 29 July.
Skandia Cowes Week starts on Saturday, 30 July and runs until Saturday, 6 August 2005.
