European championships head for Deauville

The European Mumm 30 class, managed from the UK by Louis Browne, has officially announced its decision to select Deauville International Week (aka La Semaine Internationale de la Voile de Deauville) for the European Mumm 30 Championship 2006 running from 7 to 11 June 2006.
With the 2006 Mumm 30 World Championships being held in the USA, the regatta in Deauville will be the class' major European regatta in 2006.
Labelled the 'Saint Tropez of the North', Deauville will for the first time be hosting Deauville International Week in 2006 of which the Mumm 30 Europeans will be part. Launch on 3 October 2005 by Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville, the Deauville Yacht Club and Sirius Evénements, and organised under the aegis of, and in partnership with the FFV (French Sailing Federation), Deauville International Week aims to be the epitome of a top level international one-design competition.
As was the case during the 2005 World Championships held off La Trinité-sur-Mer in June, the 2006 Europeans will include some top competition among European and international crews, including the current World Champions Pierre-Loïc Berthet and Mathieu Richard on Bouygues Telecom.
The geographical position of Deauville will enable easy access for French, English, Irish, Belgian and Dutch crews to easily take part and entries from the highly competitive Italian fleet. eries.
Following the request of French and British crews, Deauville International Week is also expected to play host to the J/80 fleet along with the J/105 and J/109.
