Stampede stomps ahead

Martin Payne, Jonathan Mortimer and Duncan Grindley racing Stampede increased their lead in the Matthews Centre Dragon National Championship after another testing day on the water at Kinsale.

A second and a first in Friday’s races saw Stampede in the lead with just three points after a discard. Her main rivals from Thursday, Das Boot, raced by John Lavery, Paul Maguire and Peter Bowring, and Christianna raced by Pol Richard Hoj Jensen, Shawn Kingston and Michael Barry - experienced a less successful day in the trying conditions, placing them third and fifth overall respectively after Day 2.

Defending champion Simon Brien, with Mark Brien and David Gomes in Kin put in a better performance on Day 2, winning the first race and finishing third in the second race, which moved them up to second position overall.
