Strong winds and bright blue sky were the feature for the final day of the Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy - Spring Regattas. There was lots of action at sea, with crew and tacticians busy to make the most of the day and to prevent, at the same time, any damage on board.
After three days of racing (consisting of five races and discard) it was Nicola Celon at the helm of Uberti's Damiani Ourdream who claimed victory in the IMS Class, winning also the Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy. In second place: Pierluigi Loro Piana's My Song followed by Black Dragon.
There was a fantastic comeback for Stefano Polti's Mintaka in Class Swan 45. The currrent Gold Cup holder both his division at the Zegna and the Class' National Championship.
Lindsay Owen-Jones and his Wally Yacht Magic Carpet 2, put in a good perfomance to claim victory in his division. Second place for Claus Peter Offen's Y3K, while Luca Bassani at the helm of Tiketitan kept the third position.
Paolo Zegna presented Nicola Celon, helmsman of Damiani Ourdream, the Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy, a “Perpetual challenge awarded to the skipper of the yacht IMS and Wally, with the best scoring in the three days race”.
The Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy Spring Regattas - organised by the Yacht Club Italiano with the co-operation of the Comune di Portofino, is open to yachts over 55 feet, subdivided into Classes IMS (ORC Club) and Wally. Entry is also open to the Nautor's Swan 45, Farr 40 and Transpac 52.
