The J24 Europeans had another successful day on the water yesterday with a further three races sailed in the waters of southern Brittany. The wind was in the south for the start of the day and cloud and drizzle accompanied 18-20 knots. The sky cleared during the fourth race and a large shift into the south west was the result.

Things got tough on the third race with the race committee deciding to replace the India flag with the black flag after the first general recall. Seven of the 31 boats were subsequently disqualified.

Hitch-hiker, leader on the first day was unable to hold onto pole and slipped to sixth with 8, 19, 14. A new leader has appeared in Jon Powell’s Peggy adding a 2, 3, 6 for a total score of 23 points – four ahead of Ian Southworth and Hedgehog.

Another three races are planned for Wednesday and a discard will come into play after six races are completed. The championship concludes on Friday.
