Bos wins prologue

First blood for Chrstian Bos in Figaro class' Generali Solo prologue

Christian Bos, skipper of the Figaro Raynal & Roquelaure won today's prologue of Generali Solo 2005.

"Even if it is the prologue, it is nevertheless excellent for one's moral", said Bos on his arrival back into La Grand Motte marina in the south of France.

For the prologue boats were not allowed to use their spinnakers instead displaying their new Kevlar jibs, introduced for this season. This was because the boats were also taking passengers in the form of school children and journalists.

In approximately 10 knots of wind, Raynal & Roquelaure led around the top mark chased by Yann Eliès on Groupe Generali, Marc Emig ( Total), Benoît Petit ( Défi Santé Voile), and Kito de Pavant (Groupe Bel).

Towards the finish there was a new challenge from Gérald Véniard on Scutum overtaking both Eliès and Kito de Pavant to take second place.

Traditionally Figaro skippers view winning the prologue prior to a major singlehanded race as being a bad omen.

"We have teste new veils and the boat is better than last year," commented Bos. "We worked a lot this winter in Lorient and I made new adjustments to the mast, and now we're starting to see the results on water. I hope that this will continue for all of the Generali Solo! I am also very content for people who were with me on board today, because I think that they had a great time..."
