Simon Brien, David Gomes and Dallas Caskey of the Royal Northern Ireland Yacht Club, racing Kin, have won the Blue Haven Hotel Irish South Coast Dragon Championship at Kinsale.

A second in Saturday’s first race compounded their lead from Friday’s three races, allowing them to discard a seventh place in the final race and win by a comfortable 11 points.

Johnny Ross-Murphy, Ailbe Millerick and Ed Peel of the Royal St. George Yacht Club, racing ‘Rigmarole’, also retained their second position from yesterday, while their fellow club members Mick Cotter, Brian Mathews and Mark Pettitt won Saturday’s first race to snatch third overall from Cameron Good, Simon Furney and Mel Collins of Kinsale Yacht Club.

Weather conditions were again good for the first race, with NW 10/16 kts. However, the wind suddenly increased to 25 knots+ during the second race, causing the PRO Jeanot Petch to shorten the course.

2. Rigmarole (J. Ross-Murphy, A. Millerick, E. Peel, RStGYC)
