Five races in

Update from the 8m Worlds in Geneva

Friday July 9th 2004, Author: Corinne Druey, Location: none selected
Today only one race could take place because of a very strong storm that shortened the day. During the whole race, the Swiss Gitana Sixty led and crossed the finish line first, followed by the Dutch yacht Lafayette, who are still leading the preliminary overall ranking.

For the first time today, a non-modern yacht finished in the top-five, Catina VI, from Fred Meyer. He is now second in its category but still behind the Italians on Bona.

The Sira Cup is preliminary led by the French Cutty Tou, followed very closely by Froya.
The preliminary ranking of the Gaff Rigged yachts is still led by the German Edit, even if they didn't win the race today, honours went to Silhouette.

According to the international rules, now that 5 races have taken place, the first four are now counting in the preliminary ranking.

Friday: two regattas should be on the programme with a first start at 10.00 am.
