The Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Twilight series race 4 saw a southerly breeze gusting up to 15 knots.
The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off Netley shore. Class 1, saw John Danby sailing the Prima 38 Sailplane take line honours and victory on corrected time by nearly three minutes from the J/105 Slingshot.
In third place was Mike Garvey sailing the X332 X Parrott. After three races
X Parrott leads the series by 3 points from Slingshot.
Class 2 saw Stephanie Bateson skippering First 31.7 Starspray take line honours and victory on corrected time by four minutes from Steve Sault’s Sigma 33 Hooligan with sistership Richard Puddifoot’s Whippa Snappa third. Overall in the series Andrew Maunder’s X372 Xtrovert leads Starspray leads on a tie-break.
Class 3 saw Cuan Marsh’s Hunter Bolero take line honours but victory on corrected time by 2 minutes 49 seconds went to Graham Sparkes Freedom 27 Grace from Ian Barry’s Evolution 22 Glass Onion. Third place went to Philip Williams Hunter Sonata Sequoia. Overall in the series Glass onion leads by 2 points from Grace.
In the Multihull Class, Ben Goodland’s Strider Tigger took line honours and victory on corrected time by over four minutes from Simon Forbes’ Dragonfly 800 Scooby III. Third was Grant Kelly’s Corsair F27 Beatus. Overall in the series Tigger leads by 8 points from Scooby III.
The RSYC Cherbourg Double starts on Friday 28th May. RSYC Twilight Series continues on Thursday 3 June and Summer Sunday Series continues on 6 June.
