First time for a K-One Design 33 took part last weekend in Switzerland's most famous race - the Bol d'Or.
Four crew members sailed on board KOD 2 have enjoyed the tour of Lake Leman getting a 44th place among 509 starters and 488 boats finishers. The race was held in very shifty wind conditions range from 0 to 25 knots, with two thirds of the course sailed downwind.
Unfortunately, there were no Swiss sailors on board the KOD 33, which would have helped the crew as the sailing area was often impossible to understand sometimes with with 90deg wind shifts.
KOD 2 ended up second in class 4, 35 seconds behind the Swiss Mumm 30 Olympic after 12 hours and 18 minutes of racing. The Mumm 30 was not in class rules, but optimised for the ACVL measurement with a 120sqm spinnaker compared to the 90sqm allowed under class rules. The competing KOD 33 was not optimised for lake racing, with a 75sqm spinnaker.
From the Bol d'Or the K-One Design 33 will take part in the Cork Race Week and then in Skandia Cowes Week.
