Current Farr 40 World Champions win final Med Circuit event by a point

Nerone, the current Farr 40 World Champions, have added another couple of trophies to their collection over the weekend.

The Italian team, with Vasco Vascotto as tactician, have won the final instalment of the Deutsche Bank Farr 40 Med Circuit in Porto Cervo, a result which has also given them overall victory of the Circuit which includes the two previous events in St Tropez and Cala Galera.

The fleet was 15 strong in Porto Cervo, with Rrose, Bambakou and Kokomo joining in. Seven races were completed by the end of play on Saturday.

Domenico Cilenti’s Shining, with Francesco Bruni calling tactics won the final race, leaving Nerone with it all to do to finish close enough to take the event win. This they did with a final race position of seventh, giving them a one point victory.

Elvind Astrup’s always improving form in Norwegian Steam posted a 1,1,4,4 in the last four races to secure third spot on 36 points. Joe Fly did enough with a sixth place to keep their second place in the Circuit.

TWT, Twins 2, Bambakou, Madina and Strunge Light are now all part of different teams for the ISAF Offshore Team World Championship now taking place in Porto Cervo. Teams consist of one Farr 40, one Swan 45, and an IMS boat.
