Knut Frostad and
Team Academy continue their domination of the Nokia Oops Cup. On Thursday 10 June they won the City Race in Oslo, just as they had in Stockholm and Helsinki previously. “This was the greatest victory so far, because we were sailing in Oslo in front of a large home crowd,” Frostad says.
The sun was shining over the seaside precinct of Aker Brygge in central Oslo, where thousands of spectators were watching the competition. And Frostad’s three straight victories gave them all reasons to cheer.
Behind Frostad the close fight between the two Swedish skippers Magnus “Mange” Olsson and Klas “Klabbe” Nylof carried on. In the Stockholm City Race, “Mange” and Team GORE-TEX finished in a clear second place, but in Oslo “Klabbe” and HiQ Sailing Team got their revenge. With the series 4-2-2 they beat the other Swedish yacht, which finished with the results 2-3-4.
Nokia Sailing Team finished in fourth place in the Oslo City Race, and Team TietoEnator-L’Oréal in fifth.
The next race in the Nokia Oops Cup is the first offshore race. After three City Races, the major Norwegian offshore race, the Faerder Race, starts on Friday 11 June. Last year “Klabbe” Nylof and HiQ Sailing Team established a new record time, but despite that Knut Frostad is the favourite after his results so far in the Nokia Oops Cup.
