Teams get ready for Nationals this weekend

The 2003 Laser SB3 National Champs sees the growing fleet stretch it's legs for a first time visit to the west country, for the eagerly anticipated event hosted by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club.

The final event of the 2003 Henri Lloyd series, this years nationals will offer the biggest turnout of the year with at least 30 boats making the trip. 2002 National Champ Mike Budd will not be in attendance to defend his title, leaving the way open for a new 2003 champ.

Welcoming the new sailors to the fleet, sportsboat guru Mark Rushall will be providing class video coaching for the first day of sailing, with a group debrief taking place after sailing - no doubt an opportunity to highlight the finer points of SB3 sailing!

Fresh from summer victories in the Henri Lloyd series and looking for a win at their first nationals attendance with be John Hanson's 'Turbo Services International' team; however with great Cowes Week form Mark Richards on Full Chat, and Jerry Hill, returning to the fleet after his summer siesta, will be looking to upset the Hanson run.

Local knowledge is not to be dismissed and Falmouth sailors Richard Beaman, and Jonny Money will be teams eager to make their mark on home territory.

With the forecast for a typically september west-country weekend, plenty of Apres Sail from class sponsor Henri Lloyd, and the best turnout to date, the 2003 Laser SB3 National Championships will be the place to be.
