After day three of the Knickerbocker Cup match racing

Saturday August 30th 2003, Author: Andrea Watson, Location: United States
The weather on Manhasset Bay gave the skippers and crew a bit of a problem for their third day of racing at the 2003 Knickerbocker Cup. After looking at the glassy calm of the bay for what seemed an eternity, the wind finally filled in mid-afternoon.

Good winds out of the north up to 18 knots had the Race Committee hoping they would complete the full round robin by day’s end and begin the semi-finals Sunday morning.

Unfortunately, that did not happen, and Race Committee will be busy on Sunday trying to fit in the rest of the round robin, the semi-finals and the finals. If not, the finals and Award Ceremony will take place on Monday, September 1.

The match race between the German team, skippered by Sven Eric Horsch and one of the Swedish teams, skippered by Mattias Rahm had to be re-sailed when the German team asked for redress. The match was sailed at the end of day on Saturday, with Mattias Rahm and his crew beating the German team.
