Sunday November 23rd 2003, Author: Sebastien Destremau, Location: Australasia
Since the launch of the OzBoyz Challenge website two weeks ago, there has been 220,000 hits on the website. International media interest in Australia's OzBoyz Challenge for the 2007 America's Cup generated 64% of these website visits/hits.
The OzBoyz Challenge recruitment campaign which coincided with the website launch has attracted several hundred supporters and a strong field of potential candidates for the sailing team positions. Applicants range from inexperienced motivated novices to skilled Olympic and ex-America's Cup competitors. The national selection centres and dates in each state will be confirmed for the first quarter of 2004.

OzBoyz continue to work with their founding partners to secure funding for the 2007 America's Cup. A number of international and local companies have expressed interest in becoming a sponsor for the OzBoyz Challenge as it offers significant business exposure with the event being staged in Europe.

As OzBoyz Challenge gets underway several other international challengers are tipped to contend for the 2007 America's Cup. The three latest potential contenders are B-Linghi from Germany, Desafio from Spain and Toscana from Italy.

Valencia (Spain) and Naples (Italy) are two cities in the short-list of four remaining potential America's Cup venues to host the event in 2007 as well as Cascais (Portugal) and Marseille (France).

OzBoyz Challenge is yet to name it's Yacht Club. We are currently in discussion with Yacht Clubs in NSW, WA and Victoria however interested Yacht Clubs from all states are still being canvassed and encouraged before a final decision is reached next year.
