Dan Griffey reports on Saturday's racing

Friday August 1st 2003, Author: Dan Griffey, Location: United Kingdom
With 12 boats entered, Saturday's racing got away on time in light airs and strong tide but only two boats made the start on time! The resulting race was therefore a bit of a forgone conclusion with newcomer Damian Brown taking the honours in The Snitch.

The second and third races had all boats hitting the start on time and produced as the fabled tight racing of the Laser SB3 fleet. Each race had similar results with Mark Richards in Full Chat holding off the challenges of Tony Kilby in ER and Jerry Hill in 3 Sad Old Blokes.

After a couple of weeks of Admirals Cup racing Jerry found his form on the Sunday, winning both races in the building breeze with Mark Richards on Full Chat on his tail in second. Kilby scored a third in the first race but suffered with a batten in the last race, helping Harry Stratton-Brown in Norfolk and Chance through to third.

With 18 knots on the speedo in the last run and startled faces on overtaken 1720s the fleet can but look forward to Cowes Week with 18 entries praying for a fresh breeze.

Results:
3024 Full Chat Mark Richards
3029 3 Sad Old Blokes Jerry Hill
3031 E.R. Tony Kilby
3028 Bandit Marting Head
3020 White Knuckles John Baimbridge
