Gilmour makes it to Danish Open

News from the latest event in the Swedish Match Tour

Australian America's Cup veteran Peter Gilmour of Team Pizza La advanced to the main event out of the Petit Danish Open, the pre-regatta qualifier held in Middlefart this past weekend.

Also passing through to this week's Danish Open proper is Denmark's Lars Nordbjerg who finished one point behind Gilmour on three points. Nordbjerg is a product of the event-host KDY/SKS Match Race Center. Nordbjerg advanced on countback over countryman Henrik Jensen.

"Gilmour sailed superbly with excellent manoeuvres and cool tactics, both he and Nordbjerg are ready for the Danish Open," said Petit Danish Open competitor Troels Lykke.

Sweden's Mattias Rahm of Team Stena Bulk, runner-up to Denmark's Jes Gram-Hansen in a thrilling, three-match final at the 2002 Danish Open 2002, failed to advance, winning only two matches in Middlefart.
