Lining up against the world's very best match racers in the top arena of yacht racing can understandably be quite daunting, for even the coolest character. "I think the big thing is not to be overawed," says Andy Beadsworth. "Oracle is actually quite a big syndicate and quite powerful. They have a big budget and they look the part, quite professional, etc... But at the end of the day it is still only Cutler, Holmberg, Dickson - they've got a weight behind them, but they are still only the same guys I've sailed against for the last 10-15 years".

Knowing your opponent and some of his sailing quirks also helps and Beadsworth says this certainly was the case when they lined up against his old Soling adversary Jesper Bank in their match against Victory Challenge. "We actually anticipated his move which was quite fun for us, so it is a bit of a chess game but again at the end of the day, there is nobody out there who I haven't beaten at some stage, except perhaps Russell [Coutts], because I haven't raced him against that much."
