Conclusion of Farr 40 Bahamian pre-worlds

Below are the preliminary results to the MeesPierson sponsored event, which concluded yesterday after a final two races.

The strong Italian team of Nerone, owned by Signors Mezzaroma and Migliori with tactitian Vasco Vascotto, have provisonally won the event with a points total of 21.

Canadian Terry McLaughlin has put in an impressive show in this international fleet, to finish with a clear second ahead of Kilroy's Samba Pa Ti. McLaughlin is no novice sailor - he is the Canadian Yachting Association's 2001 Rolex Sailor of the Year and 1984 Olympic Silver Medallist in the Flying Dutchman. His tactitcian for the week in American Jeff Madrigali, 1996 Olympic Bronze in the Soling.

Another two days of measurement take place now with the first races of the 'main event', the Rolex Farr 40 Worlds starting on Wedneday.
