Campos leads IMS 600s

After day of fickle winds at the IMS600 Worlds in Spain

Auckland is not the only place suffering from light winds. In Bayona, the World Championship for the new IMS 600 class lost their first day of racing on Monday and looked to do so again today, until a light but adequate 8-10 knots breeze established itself at 1630.

The new purpose-built IMS600, the Sinergia 400, which will no doubt be star of the IMS600 class in the Admiral's Cup next year, dominated the racing with the four examples taking part in the Worlds holding the top four spots.

Leader after day one of racing is Pedros Campos on Telefónica MoviStar but this was not without some major competition from Siemens Mobile of Pedro Perelló Canal, who finished second just three second behind on the water, following an error by Campos at the final weather mark.

The IMX 40s Mar Natura, Zorongo and Lanzamar also had a good race albeit in the wake of the Sinergia 40s.

For the First 40.7s the racing was also very competitive, Red Devil ifnishing ahead of the IMX 40 Lanzamar.

For tomorrow two windward-leewards are scheduled and the long offshore.
