More stretch for Gill

Special deal for purchasers at Sailboat show

In tandem with the launch of their £370 Breathable Drysuit and a red Ultralite Racing Buoyancy retailing at £45 at this year’s Sailboat Show on 1-2 March, Gill is using the Show to spread the message about its unique Freedom of Movement™ garment design for dinghy and one-design sailors.

Their range of dinghy clothing is purpose-designed with the Freedom of Movement™ underarm continuous panel, ensuring optimum flexing and stretching, without any ride up above the waist (see left).

Unlike other dinghy products on the market, Gill’s complete Dinghy System range is constructed with extra long underarm performance fabric panels running from the cuff to the hem. This unique design enables the full elevation of both arms without uncomfortable chilling and getting wet around the waist, commonly caused by the garment riding up when your arms reach out or upwards. The continuous underarm panel is incorporated into all Gill Dinghy System garments. All tops with the exception of the Spray Smock also feature adjustable neoprene waistbands.

As Gill’s founder and Chairman, Nick Gill puts it “the aim of our Freedom of Movement™ design is to allow you, the sailor, to completely forget what you’re wearing, leaving you to fully concentrate on competing.”

Nick continues, “At Gill we continuously work with our sponsored Olympic Squad sailors. The high-ranking Tornado sailors, Mitch Booth, Hugh Styles and Adam May have been working closely with us for two years now to create a truly innovative line-up of specialist dinghy kit that we’ll be ready to launch later this year.”

Red for Safety introduced in 2003

Gill has introduced red as the new safety colour to its Dinghy range this year. The red Breathable Dry Suit features alongside the red Dinghy System Smock and Ultralite Racing Buoyancy Aid on a variety of chandlery stands at the Show.

Valuable Special Offers at Sailboat

Visitors to the show who purchase a Gill Mens or Ladies full-length Wetsuit will receive a free Dinghy Spray Top and if you buy a new Breathable Drysuit, you get a free pair of fleece Salopettes. Chandleries participating in Gill’s Freedom of Movement™ Show promotion include Purple Sails, P&B, Mailspeed, Welsh Harp, Andark and Speed Sails.

In 2000 Gill championed some truly pioneering Dinghy System technology to include a new wave of functionally designed waterproof clothing. Developed with and endorsed by the Sydney Star Class Olympians Ian Walker and Mark Covell, Gill retained its ranking at the forefront of the Performance Dinghy Clothing sector.
