Just a quick reminder that America’s Cup racing will be on terrestial TV tonight in the UK for the first time in many years.
The programme fronted by Peter ‘swing-o-meter’ Snow, an avid yachtsman himself, will be broadcast on BBC2 from 11.20pm to 12.10. We can rest assured that there will be plenty of gesticulating technical analysis from Snow with added commentry from Ellen MacArthur.
The first ACC match for Great Britain in 15 years, versus Team Dennis Conner, was the featured TV match in New Zealand on Tuesday, and although GBR Challenge lost, it was undeniably close.
Eurosport are showing a daily highlights programme at 7pm. First screened on Tuesday evening, this was a low budget affair, with no host or expert opinion on hand. Which could, however, end up being its strength. Commentary of the race was handled principally by the charismatic Kiwi, Peter Montgomery, the voice of the America’s Cup, and one of the few commentators capable of bringing a sense of drama to match racing.
