London Boat Show will see Seldén UK launch a range of improved gooseneck and boom end fittings for the latest generation of Proctor Spars

Performance Boom Bracket

By refining the design, reducing weight and increasing strength and function ability, Seldén has developed a new gooseneck bracket, that features a round pin, to allow the boom to rotate in the direction of the load. The new pin is longer and engages into a tight fitting hole to limit any ‘play’ in the mast/boom joint.

A positive ‘snap’ fit into the inboard boom end fitting is a unique feature of the new gooseneck. Once engaged, it prevents the boom falling off the gooseneck when you lease expect it!

The fittings bracket also has a larger ‘footprint’, making it stronger. It is manufactured from the latest composite to reduce any electrolytic reaction when used with either alloy or carbon mast walls and features a neat hole for ‘dead ending’ the Cunningham line.
Inboard Boom End Fitting

The boom bracket (above) is complimented by a new inboard boom end fitting (left). In addition to a round hole to accept the new gooseneck, it also has a number of intelligent design features.

Its three sheaves offer a variety of lead options; these can be used for outhaul, reefing lines, flatteners or even an internal pole retraction system. Sheaves can easily be upgraded with high load or ball bearing versions by simply removing the blue clip and releasing the axial pin.

An in-built sail feeder for guiding the mainsail clew has also been incorporated into Seldén’s new inboard boom end design.

Outboard End Fitting
The new outboard end fitting incorporates three locking options for lines, either via two ‘pegs’ on the side of the fitting (right) or via a ‘V’ groove located underneath the starboard sheave (see below).

Containing two sheaves for outhaul, flattener or reefing options, it has removable axial pins for changing over sheaves and an in-built sail feeder to allow the mainsail to be removed over the generally less ‘cluttered’ transom.
