The first RS200 Youth Championships takes place at Bowmoor Sailing Club on 13-14 October. RS Association secretary Pete Vincent told madforsailing the event was open to youth helms aged 19 or under, but that they could have crews over 19 sailing with them.
"Not many people under 19 can necessarily afford their own boat, so we want to encourage participation by allowing older crews to provide their boats for use in the event," he said.

There would also be a lot of coaching and advice available during the weekend, he added. "We will have a number of the top RS200 sailors on hand to provide tuning advice and other tips on the Saturday, and we are in the process of securing a well-known rock star to turn up and give a talk in the evening. It should be an excellent weekend."

Bowmoor already has a strong RS200 fleet at the club, owning three of the boats which are available for use by the juniors at the club.
