At 1200 visitors to Cowes Yacht Haven will be able to see a model of the first electric powered boat to circumnavigate the world, which will be unveiled by its three project leaders.
The team is seeking sponsorship and funding in order to move onto the next stage of building a 100 foot catamaran that will support an umbrella of solar panels and wind generators. A working model will be on display at the North Basin adjacent to My 'Finnlady'.
The project is the brainchild of Nelson Kreusand of Hurstmonceux, Sussex, and he has employed the technical skills of Richard Rivaz a computer electronics expert and Captain Malcom Burwood, a Merchant Navy Officer as marine advisor. All three will be in Cowes today to discuss their project which is currently scheduled to depart from Gibraltar in July 2003.
