New bearings for J/Boats

Edson International are now manufacturing high-performance replacement rudder bearings for all J/Boats as well as replacements for the complete line of bearings formerly made by Harken.
In order to provide JBoat owners a high quality, direct replacement for their current bearings, Edson now offers retrofit rudder bearings that require little or no modifications to the boat or rudder tube.
These new replacement bearings feature super low friction composite rollers and balls, and are available in 6082 Aluminum or 316 Stainless. Aluminum bearings have an extra thick 50 microns of hardcoat anodizing for superior corrosion resistance. All Edson bearings have captive rollers and ball bearings, and the snap-in/snap-out design allows for bearing service in place with no tools other than a screwdriver.
Edson also manufactures bearings with a unique flexible element to absorb rudder shaft flex, and bearings with built-in water seals and thrust races. Their built-in water seals use the proven packing gland concept, and are easy to service, fully adjustable, replaceable, and completely watertight.
Complete specifications and fitting guides for Edson’s new Rudder Bearings are available in the new, 14-page Rudder Bearing Catalog or by contacting Edson directly.
