Round the Island - bring an umbrella!

Southerly winds, Force 3-4 with lots of rain will make for a bedraggled race, predicts Mike Broughton

The south westerly quadrant winds will hold throughout the day. There will be a few calmer areas due to high ground and cliffs as detailed in the series of Walking The Course articles published this week on madforsailing. Also watch out for the wind accelerating and bending around St Catherine's Point.

In short it will not be the most pleasant day to sail around the island. There will be periodic rain showers, but we can be grateful the race is not being held on Sunday when there will be much stronger north westerly winds.
