Light breeze for the other Spring Series

The Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Spring series race 5 held on Sunday 18th April saw a southwesterly breeze of around 10 knots which at times died away to less than 5 knots with an occasional gust over 15 knots and several long rain showers.
The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat, Pyxis, near Hovercraft 2
buoy.
Class 1, saw Mike Garvey’s X-332 X Parrott take line honours and victory on corrected time by 9 seconds from the J/80 Just Savage (Liz and Chris Savage) with The Flying Fish, Kathy and Rupert Smalley’s Laser 28 third. Overall in the series with one race to go The Flying Fish leads but is on the same number of points as X Parrott. X-332 Blue Moviez (Steve Flick) is in third place but is equal on points with Sigma 33 Hooligan (Steve Sault).
Class 3 saw Peter Sanders Dehler 41 take line honours and victory on corrected time by 71 seconds from Tigerfeet, Ian Townend and John Cooper’s Hunter 707, with third Richard Walker’s Urchin II a Micro Gem. Overall in the series Kraken leads Tigerfeet by 4 points with third First 211 Loki (Simon Potter and Marion Meunier).
In the Multihull Class, Ian Loffhagen’s F25C Sheik Yerbouti took line honours but victory on corrected time by over fourteen minutes went to George Burn’s F27 Smokey Bear from Sheik Yerbouti with Simon Forbes’ Dragonfly 800 Scooby III third. Overall in the series Smokey Bear leads by five points from Blue Minnell (Tim Wilson Dragonfly 800) with Sheik Yerbouti third.
