Dinghies also at Southampton Boat Show
Monday September 17th 2001, Author: Gerald New, Location: United Kingdom
The Southampton Boat Show is famous for the chance to see yachts in the water. The large area of pontoons and the demonstration trips allow you to get a real idea of the potential of the yacht on your wish list.
This year has seen an upsurge in the number of dinghy manufacturers exhibiting, not just in the pleasure activity range but also in the dinghy racing area.
Laser have a large selection of their range at the show and will also be revealing their new 'keelboat' on one day of the show.
They also have their 'laser sailing simulator' at the show. You can have a go at beating Olympic Gold medallist Ben Ainslie, who set the bench mark time when he raced the Simulator earlier this year.
Daily prizes courtesy of Teva Footwear will be awarded to the best times in male, female and youth categories.
To keep you busy in the winter Laser have announced a National Sailing Simulator Championships being run with the support of a host of leading sailing industry sponsors; Holt Allen, Hyde Sails, Henri Lloyd, CTG, Scott Bader, ACE Canoes, IYE (England) Ltd, and RWO.
Qualifying rounds will take place between September and December 2001, with the finals to be held courtesy of National Boatshows as a main feature during the January 2002 London International Boat Show. To register for more information on participating and to book a qualifying round for your club, e-mail simulator@lasersailing.com or phone Dan Griffey or Tom Rosoman on 01295 268191.
