Who will snap up Cayard first...

Friday December 14th 2001, Author: John Greenland, Location: United Kingdom

Though Assa Abloy again suffered with a poor result, finishing sixth after having lead the race early on, it appears resurfacing rumours of a tie up with Cayard have again been put to rest. American Chris Larson has been signed up as tactician and helmsman to join the crew from Sydney onwards.

So will we be seeing Cayard when the boats arrive in Auckland? An exclusive interview with Ed Gorman revealed that he is certainly interested in joining a syndicate for the current race and that although reaching the Sydney stopover in time is unlikely, Auckland or Rio would certainly be feasible.

Cayard is currently on the board of directors for Nautor, but during the interview he also suggested that they would be amenable if he were to join another syndicate for the duration of the race.
